Frequently Asked
Questions

Find answers to common questions about OrbVPN, security, and privacy.

What is a VPN and why do I need one?
A VPN (Virtual Private Network) encrypts your internet connection and routes it through secure servers, hiding your IP address and protecting your data from hackers, ISPs, and surveillance. You need one to protect your privacy online, access your services while traveling, and stay safe on public WiFi.
How do I get started with OrbVPN?
Getting started is easy: 1) Download OrbVPN from our website or app store, 2) Create an account or sign in, 3) Click Connect to protect your connection instantly. The app will automatically choose the best server for you.
Which devices does OrbVPN support?
OrbVPN supports Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, browser extensions (Chrome, Firefox, Edge), routers, Smart TVs, gaming consoles (via router), and more. One account covers up to 10 devices simultaneously.
Do I need technical knowledge to use OrbVPN?
Not at all. OrbVPN is designed for everyone. Just install the app and click Connect. Advanced users can customize settings, but it's completely optional.
Does OrbVPN keep logs of my activity?
No. OrbVPN has a strict no-logs policy. We don't track, store, or share your browsing activity, connection timestamps, IP addresses, or any personally identifiable information. We are actively working toward independent third-party audits to verify this.
What encryption does OrbVPN use?
We use AES-256-GCM encryption (the same standard used by governments) combined with post-quantum resistant algorithms (Kyber768). This protects your data against current and future quantum computing threats.
Can OrbVPN be hacked?
No encryption is theoretically unbreakable, but OrbVPN uses the strongest available protocols. We use RAM-based servers designed to minimize persistent data storage and implement perfect forward secrecy. We are pursuing independent security audits to further validate our infrastructure.
What is OrbGuard?
OrbGuard is our integrated security suite that includes: Pegasus spyware detection, scam and phishing protection, dark web monitoring for leaked credentials, and network vulnerability scanning. It's included with Premium and Ultimate plans.
Is OrbVPN safe to use?
Yes. OrbVPN operates under a strict no-logs policy and is registered in a privacy-friendly jurisdiction. We are working toward independent audits and plan to open-source our clients for full transparency.
What plans does OrbVPN offer?
We offer: Free (basic protection with ads), Basic ($4.99/mo - full VPN), Premium ($9.99/mo - VPN + OrbGuard + Hylon AI), and Ultimate ($14.99/mo - everything + OrbMesh rewards). Annual plans save up to 40%.
Is there a free plan?
Yes! We offer a free ad-supported plan that gives you access to VPN protection at no cost. Just watch brief ads to earn connection time. We also offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit/debit cards, PayPal, cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more), and various regional payment methods. Crypto payments provide additional privacy.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans, no questions asked. Simply contact support within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel anytime from your account settings or by contacting support. Your subscription remains active until the end of the billing period. We don't believe in making cancellation difficult.
Why is my connection slow with VPN?
Some speed reduction is normal due to encryption overhead and server distance. To improve speed: 1) Connect to a closer server, 2) Try a faster protocol like WireGuard, 3) Check your base internet speed. Our optimized servers typically maintain 90%+ of your original speed.
What protocols does OrbVPN support?
We support: WireGuard (fastest), OpenVPN (most compatible), IKEv2 (good for mobile), VLESS Reality (best for restrictive networks), and our proprietary OrbConnect protocol (optimized for all scenarios).
What is a kill switch?
A kill switch blocks all internet traffic if your VPN connection drops, preventing your real IP from being exposed. OrbVPN's kill switch is enabled by default and works at the system level.
Why can't I connect to certain websites with VPN?
Some websites block known VPN IPs. Solutions: 1) Try a different server, 2) Enable obfuscation, 3) Use a dedicated IP address, 4) Try our VLESS Reality protocol which disguises VPN traffic as regular HTTPS.
Does OrbVPN work in China/Middle East/Russia?
Yes. Our obfuscation technology (VLESS Reality, Shadowsocks) works in heavily restricted countries. Enable obfuscation in settings before traveling to these regions.
What is split tunneling?
Split tunneling lets you choose which apps use the VPN and which use your regular connection. Useful for accessing local services while keeping other traffic protected, or excluding banking apps that block VPNs.
Can I use OrbVPN for streaming?
OrbVPN can help you access your paid streaming subscriptions while traveling or living abroad. Our servers in 20+ countries are optimized for smooth playback. Please ensure your use complies with the terms of service of the platforms you subscribe to.
What is OrbMesh?
OrbMesh is our growing decentralized network of user-owned nodes that provides additional privacy and censorship resistance. Users can contribute bandwidth from their OrbMesh device and receive potential rewards. Coming soon.
What is Hylon AI?
Hylon is our privacy-preserving AI assistant that helps with security recommendations, threat detection, and personalized privacy advice. It uses a two-layer architecture where personal data never leaves your device.
How many devices can I use simultaneously?
Paid plans support up to 10 simultaneous device connections (varies by plan). You can also install OrbVPN on your router to protect additional devices on your home network.
