Make sure your device meets the minimum requirements before installing.
Android
Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later. ARM64 or x86_64 processor. 100 MB free storage. Google Play Services recommended.
iOS
iOS 15.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. 80 MB free storage. Available on the App Store.
Windows
Windows 10 version 1903 or later (64-bit). 150 MB free storage. .NET Runtime 6.0 or later. Administrator access for installation.
macOS
macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) or Intel processor. 120 MB free storage.
Linux / Ubuntu
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or later. Debian, Fedora, and Arch also supported. 100 MB free storage. systemd required.
Fire TV / Android TV
Fire OS 7 or later. Android TV 9.0 or later. 80 MB free storage. Remote-friendly interface included.
Installation Guide: Android
Open Google Play Store
On your Android device, open the Google Play Store app. You can also tap the Android download button above to go directly to the OrbVPN listing.
Search for OrbVPN
Type 'OrbVPN' in the search bar. Look for the official app published by OrbVPN with the Orb shield logo.
Tap Install
Tap the Install button and wait for the download to complete. The app is approximately 50 MB and installs automatically.
Open the App
Once installed, tap Open from the Play Store or find OrbVPN in your app drawer. The app will guide you through initial setup.
VPN Permission
On first launch, Android will ask you to allow OrbVPN to set up a VPN connection. Tap Allow to proceed. This is a standard Android permission required by all VPN apps.
Installation Guide: iOS
Open the App Store
On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store. You can also tap the iOS download button above to go directly to the OrbVPN listing.
Search for OrbVPN
Tap the search tab and type 'OrbVPN'. Select the official app with the Orb shield logo from the results.
Tap Get and Install
Tap Get, then authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password. The app will download and install automatically.
Open and Allow VPN Configuration
Launch OrbVPN. When prompted, tap Allow to let OrbVPN add a VPN configuration to your device settings. This is required for the VPN to function.
Notifications
We recommend enabling notifications when prompted. OrbVPN uses notifications to alert you about connection status changes and security events.
Installation Guide: Windows
Download the Installer
Visit the OrbVPN website or click the Windows download button above to download the installer (.exe file).
Run the Installer
Double-click the downloaded file. If Windows Defender SmartScreen appears, click More info and then Run anyway. The installer is digitally signed.
Follow Setup Wizard
Accept the license agreement, choose an installation directory (or keep the default), and click Install. The process takes about 30 seconds.
Launch OrbVPN
Once installation is complete, OrbVPN will launch automatically. You can also find it in your Start menu or on your desktop.
TAP Driver Installation
The Windows installer may prompt you to install a network TAP driver. This is required for VPN tunneling. Click Install when prompted by the Windows security dialog.
Installation Guide: macOS
Download the DMG File
Visit the OrbVPN website or click the macOS download button above to download the disk image (.dmg file).
Open the DMG
Double-click the downloaded .dmg file to mount it. A new Finder window will open showing the OrbVPN application.
Drag to Applications
Drag the OrbVPN icon to the Applications folder shortcut shown in the window. This copies the app to your system.
Launch and Authorize
Open OrbVPN from your Applications folder or Launchpad. On first launch, macOS may ask you to confirm opening an app from the internet. Click Open. Authorize the VPN configuration when prompted.
Installation Guide: Linux / Ubuntu
Download the Package
Visit the OrbVPN website to download the appropriate package for your distribution: .deb for Ubuntu/Debian, .rpm for Fedora/RHEL, or .AppImage for universal compatibility.
Install via Package Manager
For Ubuntu/Debian, run: sudo dpkg -i orbvpn_latest_amd64.deb followed by sudo apt-get install -f to resolve dependencies. For Fedora: sudo rpm -i orbvpn_latest_x86_64.rpm.
Launch OrbVPN
Run orbvpn from your terminal or find OrbVPN in your application launcher. The app requires root privileges for VPN tunnel creation.
Verify Installation
Run orbvpn --version in the terminal to confirm the installation. The app will start and prompt you to sign in.
Root Privileges
OrbVPN requires root or sudo access on Linux to create VPN tunnels and modify network routing tables. This is a standard requirement for all Linux VPN clients.
Installation Guide: Fire TV and Android TV
Open the App Store
On your Fire TV, navigate to the Search icon or the Appstore. On Android TV, open Google Play Store from the home screen.
Search for OrbVPN
Using your remote or voice search, search for 'OrbVPN'. Select the official app from the search results.
Install the App
Select Download or Install. The app is optimized for TV interfaces with large buttons and remote-friendly navigation.
Open and Connect
Launch OrbVPN from your apps list. Sign in with your account and use the remote to navigate the TV-optimized interface.
QR Code Login
On TV devices, use the QR code login feature to sign in quickly. Scan the code displayed on your TV screen with the OrbVPN mobile app to authenticate without typing credentials with your remote.
After Installation
Once OrbVPN is installed, you are ready for the next step.

Troubleshooting Installation
Download Fails
Check your internet connection and available storage space. Try switching from Wi-Fi to cellular data, or vice versa, if the download stalls.
Installation Blocked
On Android, enable 'Install from Unknown Sources' if sideloading. On macOS, go to System Preferences > Security to allow the app. On Windows, approve SmartScreen.
App Crashes on Launch
Ensure your operating system meets the minimum version requirements. Update your OS and try reinstalling the app.
VPN Permission Denied
OrbVPN needs VPN configuration permission to function. Go to your device settings and manually grant VPN permissions to OrbVPN.
