Does anti-theft work if the phone is turned off?+
OrbGuard records the last known location before shutdown and will immediately report its new location when powered back on. If the thief inserts a new SIM card, OrbGuard captures the new phone number and sends it to your dashboard. Some features like remote ring require the device to be powered on and connected to the internet.
Can a thief disable OrbGuard?+
OrbGuard uses device administrator privileges and stealth mode to prevent unauthorized removal. The app can be hidden from the app drawer, runs as a system service, and requires your OrbGuard password to uninstall. A factory reset will remove OrbGuard, but the SIM change alert and thief selfie features activate before a reset can be completed.
How accurate is the GPS tracking?+
OrbGuard uses a combination of GPS, WiFi triangulation, and cell tower positioning. Outdoors, accuracy is typically within 3-5 meters. Indoors, WiFi triangulation provides accuracy within 15-20 meters. Location updates can be configured from every 30 seconds to every 15 minutes depending on battery optimization preferences.
What happens to the thief selfie photos?+
After 3 failed unlock attempts, the front camera silently captures a photo. The image is tagged with GPS coordinates, timestamp, and network information, then encrypted and uploaded to your OrbGuard dashboard. Photos are stored for 90 days. You can share them with law enforcement directly from the dashboard.
Can I use anti-theft features on multiple devices?+
Yes. OrbGuard supports up to 10 devices on a single account. You can manage all devices from the web dashboard or from any device with OrbGuard installed. Each device can be individually configured with different security policies, auto-lock rules, and notification preferences.
